Father Phillips’ Return Mass, Our Lady of the Atonement, 3/22/2017.

After a welcoming by the full student body and faculty in the gymnasium, Father Phillips returned to celebrate the 9:15am school mass. At 8:15am the children of Atonement Academy cheerfully welcomed back Father Phillips with shouts of joy, gleefully waving signs and posters from the packed bleachers and gym floor. They then filed into the Church to hear Mass celebrated by their beloved priest, Father Phillips.

Father Christopher Phillips: The Episcopal Priest Who Became Catholic (EWTN)

Father Phillips was raised in Connecticut by Methodist parents. The Last Supper always played an important role in his faith life. In college he married and soon entered the Episcopal Church, attended seminary in England and was ordained an Episcopal priest. He was received into the Catholic Church in the early 1980’s and later ordained a priest under the Pastoral Provision. Father Phillips is the pastor of Our Lady of the Atonement (Anglican Use) Parish, in San Antonio, Texas.

Vindication! Our Lady of the Atonement enters the Ordinariate

Sixty-one days after Father Christopher Phillips’ suspension as pastor of Our Lady of the Atonement Parish in San Antonio, TX amid public speculation of wrongdoing, the parish enters the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. Father Phillips will resume offering the holy sacrifice of the Mass tomorrow, 3/22/2017, at 9:15am.

Today is a most joyous occasion for the clergy and laity of Our Lady of the Atonement and a magnificent ‘clearing of the air’ of this good and holy pastor. OLA’s entrance into the Ordinariate confirms what many close to the situation have been saying all along — Father Phillips nor any of the clergy at OLA have done anything wrong. In our estimation, this entire situation originated simply from the backlash of an Archbishop who did not want to allow the parish to enter into its rightful home, the Ordinariate. Any of the rumors from the general public, from ‘gossipy’ blogs running wildly speculative articles based on pure hearsay or from detractors can safely be ignored. Christ has triumphed, the truth has been revealed, and the truth has set Our Lady of the Atonement free!

A Q&A session will be held with Bishop Lopes at Our Lady of the Atonement tonight (3/21/2017) at 7:30pm.
