“There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.” – Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
The Catholic Church, since its founding by Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago has been often misunderstood. She is the bulwark of truth, founded upon St. Peter the Apostle, the first Pope. St. Peter together with his brother bishops, the Apostles, spread the faith throughout the world. Today, the Church numbers well over 1 billion souls and is perhaps more misunderstood than ever. She is both loved and reviled, and exists in a world that largely believes it has outgrown religion.
In an era when we have access to more information and knowledge than any before it, there is a troubling ignorance of the Catholic Church, and the whole of Christianity itself. The very foundation of Western Civilization is threatened by the rise of what Pope-Emeritus Benedict XVI calls the “Dictatorship of Relativism.”
This is the reason for the creation Domus Dei. We want to do our small part in evangelizing basic truths about the Church that Jesus Christ Himself established. In recent times, these truths are not said nearly enough or ‘loudly’ enough to combat the tide of competing, often dangerous ideas that threatened it. We are but the voice of one blog, but the Holy Spirit amplifies faithful voices.
